COACH

Volunteer coaches are vital to the success of the players and the Waseca Soccer Club. We need volunteers! If you are interested in coaching, please contact us. You do not need to have experience playing soccer or coaching!

A pre-season coaching clinic is provided to all volunteer coaches to help coaches learn how to create a fun environment where players can improve their skills.

Each team would also benefit from a volunteer to serve as the team’s administrator to assist the coach with communication, scheduling, snacks, etc. Please consider helping your player’s coach!

In order to coach all coaches must:

  1. Pass a MYSA background check
  2. Required each calendar year. Must be MYSA background check, no substitutes.
  3. Complete SafeSport Training - US Soccer Federation.
  4. Annual refresher course required.
  5. Complete CDC Concussion Training - HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training for Coaches.
  6. Require every three years.
  7. Complete US Soccer Introduction to Grassroots Training
  8. Attend Waseca Soccer Club coaches training. The 2026 coaches training will take place in spring 2026. The training will take place at the Hartley track field (weather permitting).

These requirement are mandated by the Minnesota State Soccer Association and Southern Minnesota Soccer League. There are no exceptions and volunteers can not have contact with players until the club has verified all requirements have been met.

MYSA Background Check

Minnesota State Law and MYSA Policy requires that all adult participants including member club officials, coaches, team managers, and administrator who are at least 18 years old must have an approved annual background check before they participate in any MYSA activity. Merely completing a background check is not sufficient to meet the requirement to participate, the background check must be approved before any activity starts.
