2026 Competitive Program

The Waseca Soccer Club provides an opportunity for youth to play soccer at a competitive level with other teams in the surrounding areas. This program is a step-up from our recreational program, but does not involve tryouts and still builds upon the goal of promoting a love for soccer.

Season

Team practices typically begin in April. Some team may schedule indoor practices earlier in the spring. Matches are played against other clubs that are members of the Southern Minnesota Soccer League (SMSL). Teams will participate in at least one tournament during the season. The head coach will select the tournament.

Team Formation

Teams are created based upon birth year. Teams may have players from different birth years depending on enrollment numbers and maximum roster capacity. A player may need to play on a team that is above their age. Playing up in age is common for our club. The club attempts to minimize the number of years a player must play up. Players are not allowed to play down an age group.

The Director of Coaching will assign players to teams. Teams are communicated as soon as possible after formation.

Expected 2026 Teams:

9U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 18U

Practices

Teams practice 2 to 3 times per week (example: Mondays, Wednesday, and/or Saturdays) depending on the coaches’ schedules and the SMSL game schedule. Week day practices are typically in the evening (example 6:00PM-7:15PM). Saturday practices are typically in the morning (example 9AM-10:30AM). Exact schedule is determined by the team head coach. Schedules will be communicated after registration is complete and teams have been formed.

Uniforms

Uniforms are required for all 9U-18U players. Each player must have a complete uniform set. A complete uniform set includes a home jersey, away jersey, shorts, and socks.

Each player must also have shin guards and soccer cleats. Football, baseball and softball shoes with toe cleats are not allowed.

Uniform orders are placed via United Team Elites online store during the registration window.
